At the age of 25, Randy Napoleon is one of the fastest rising jazz guitar stars in New York City. Since relocating from Ann Arbor, MI where he studied at the University of Michigan School of Music Randy has performed with distinguished band leaders including Rodney Whitaker, Jeff Hamilton, John Clayton, and Marcus Printup. When the Hollywood Bowl hosted a big band concert featuring Count Basie Orchestra alumni Frank Wess, Frank Foster and Snooky Young, Napoleon proudly filled the guitar chair. Recently, Randy toured North America and Europe in his year long stay in world renowned pianist Benny Green's trio. Recently he released his debut recording as a co-leader together with Jared Gold entitled "Enjoy the Moment." He took Brian Green's place in Michael's band for the UK tour, and although it's his first time touring with Michael, he seemed to blend in perfectly, and the guys in the band told me tons of nice things about him. I hope to get to know him better in the future, maybe during next tour!
